Police seek person of interest following reported sexual assault of a child in Delaware

Police in New Castle County, Delaware, say that they are searching for a man who possibly witnessed the sexual assault of a child. Officials are searching for the witness as well as the person of interest in the case.

Police in Delaware are asking for the public's help in identifying a person they believe sexually assaulted a child under the age of 12. Investigators are also looking to speak to a man who they believe witnessed the incident.

New Castle County Police released photos of surveillance footage that captured a man entering a building on Chestnut Street in Wilmington.

Investigators say he is the person of interest in reference to a reported sexual assault of a child.

Officials say that they are also searching for a possible witness who they think has information about this incident.

In a photo shared by New Castle County police, the person of interest is wearing all-black clothing while the possible witness is seen shirtless with gray shorts.

Delaware Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the individual.
