Eight people near Pittsburgh have filed a criminal complaint saying a man went door-to-door claiming to sell Girl Scout Cookies, but never delivered the tasty treats.
Police are filing theft and receiving stolen property charges against 33-year-old Cody Patrick Wylie in Westmoreland County, about 22 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Residents say he and his 9-year-old daughter took cookie orders from as many as 100 people.
Police say Wylie used the girl as a ploy to make the scam appear legitimate and collected $124 in preorders.
They say Wylie demanded cash up front for the cookies, which is not customary of the Girl Scouts of America and that he was selling them at a time when most cookies were being delivered.
