Philadelphia-based snack and alcohol delivery service GoPuff has launched in Tampa, hiring more than 50 employees along with it.
GoPuff, started by two Drexel University students in 2013, conducted a soft launch in Tampa earlier this year. Now, it has beefed up its product offerings and included alcohol. The company operates in about 90 cities throughout the United States.
The Tampa branch currently has over 50 drivers and a dozen operational employees at its warehouse, with plans to hire more.
While many delivery services go through a third party, GoPuff has its own warehouse with over 2,500 items. Customers order directly from that supply and can get items delivered to their homes.
"We definitely see high technology use in our demographics moving forward and people looking for more convenience in their life," said Elizabeth Romaine, director of communication at GoPuff. "We started off with only 50 products and as customers want more we ended up with 2,500. We responded with the customer demand, so now we're expanding pet products or baby products on demand and that's pretty common."
