Fight Leads to Shooting in NJ Wawa Parking Lot

A fight in a South Jersey Wawa parking lot ended with one man shot and another under arrest following a police pursuit.

The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill reports the shooting in Winslow Township occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Winslow Township Police say 36-year-old Lameen Adams Jr. of Lindenwold and a 26-year-old Glassboro man were fighting when Adams allegedly shot the other man in the leg.

The victim was taken to Cooper Hospital for treatment.

A police officer soon arrived and saw a car speeding away. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver kept going and threw a handgun out the window, which was later retrieved by police, according to investigators.

The driver, identified as Adams, eventually stopped his car. He's charged with aggravated assault, hindering arrest and multiple weapons offenses.

Adams' bail was set at $100,000 and it wasn't known if he's retained an attorney.
