Man Stabs Neighbor Over Excessive Doorbell Ringing: Police

A southwestern Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he stabbed his neighbor after police say the victim repeatedly rang the suspect's doorbell.

The criminal complaint against 49-year-old J. Omar Bustamante, of South Greensburg, doesn't make clear why the victim, 58-year-old Dennis Shaw was ringing the bell. Police in the tiny borough did not immediately return a call for comment Friday.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Bustamante's daughter and boyfriend witnessed the altercation on Bustamante's porch about 2:40 a.m. Thursday.

Bustamante's daughter told police her father opened the door and immediately began arguing with Shaw about ringing the bell.

After Shaw punched Bustamante, the boyfriend tried to separate the men, at which point Bustamante stabbed Shaw three times.

Bustamante doesn't have an attorney and remained in the Westmoreland County Prison.

Shaw was hospitalized in critical condition.
