A registered nurse was arrested after police say he sold prescription drugs that he allegedly stole from the hospital where he worked.
On Monday, around 9:15 p.m., police pulled over Seth Kaplan, 42, as he was driving at the intersection of Neptune Drive and Nautilus Boulevard in Manahawkin, NJ. Officers searched his car and found several syringes filled with liquid Hydromorphine and Morphine Sulfate as well as a bottle containing prescription pills, according to investigators.
Police then searched Kaplan’s home on Neptune Drive in Manahawkin. Investigators say they found more drugs, including Oxycodone pills, Codeine pills and Demoral injections. In all, police seized 32 syringes containing different amounts of Morphine Sulfate, Demoral (Meperdine) and Diazepam Injections, according to investigators.
Police say an investigation revealed that Kaplan is a registered nurse at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. Kaplan allegedly stole drugs several times from CentraState and possibly a second hospital while he was working and sold them.
Kaplan was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance and other related offenses. He is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail with his bail set at $30,000.
