NPS pulls plan to remove statue of William Penn from site of his former Philly home

Following public outcry — and intervention from the governor — the National Park Service has revoked a proposal that would have renovated Welcome Park, at the site of William Penn’s former home in Philadelphia, by removing a statue of the state’s founder and removing other elements of the park’s design.
