A woman was killed and four other people were hurt in a crash on I-295 in South Jersey Thursday night.
Investigators said a Chevrolet pickup truck and Dodge vehicle were traveling on I-295 northbound at milepost 19.8 in West Deptford Township, Gloucester County, around 7 p.m. The Dodge crashed into the back of the Chevy, causing the pickup truck to crash into a guardrail and overturn, New Jersey State Police said.
A passenger in the Chevy -- later identified as 38-year-old Cassandra Ashmeade of Philadelphia -- was ejected from the vehicle and later died from her injuries, police said.
The driver of the Chevy -- a 44-year-old Philadelphia woman -- suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge -- a 22-year-old woman from Gibbstown, New Jersey -- also suffered serious injuries while two other passengers in the Dodge suffered minor injuries.
