New Jersey: Cuban Men Stopped in Car Face Kidnapping Charges

Authorities say two Cuban men pulled over by police while driving a stolen truck in New Jersey are facing charges in the kidnapping and robbery of a truck driver in Maryland.

NJ.com reports 23-year-old Ernesto Herrera-Lesteiro and 27-year-old Yonder Diaz-Sanchez were charged in Hopewell Township with receiving stolen property and marijuana possession following their arrest March 20.

Police say the men were stopped after the license plate reader in an officer's patrol car indicated that their truck was reported stolen a week earlier.

Credit cards inside the truck were not in either man's name. Police learned that they were taken during an armed robbery in Perryville, Maryland, on March 17.

Both Herrera-Lesteiro and Diaz-Sanchez are being held without bail pending extradition to Maryland.

It wasn't immediately known if they had lawyers to comment on their behalf.
