Money Needed for “Proper Burial”

Online effort launched for funerals of 7 fire victims

The day after Christmas, seven people ranging in ages from 18 months to 54 years, died when a fire roared through a three-story home in Southwest Philadelphia.

A kerosene heater exploded near the only exit out of the basement, trapping the victims in the home. The victims were part of the large Liberian community of Philadelphia.

In the weeks after the tragedy family, friends and survivors have been trying to raise money in order to provide the victims with a proper burial.

The group has created a memorial fund and ask that community members make any contribution they can.
