The teen was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday.
Rivera's loved ones told NBC10 the teen was supposed to do a job interview on Wednesday.
"I don't know what to do at this point," the teen's brother, Humberto Castillo-Rivera, told NBC10. "I don't have a big brother no more. It's sad because I can't imagine losing my big brother like this."

No arrests have been made and police continue to search for the driver and vehicle.
"We just want justice because this is not normal," Castillo-Rivera said. "It's been happening with other people too. And other families are getting destroyed because of this."
Mike Carroll, the Deputy Managing Director for Transportation, told NBC10 that Philadelphia has seen an 82 percent jump in deadly crashes. An effort to reduce traffic deaths to zero by 2030 has led to more bike lanes and speed cameras on Roosevelt Boulevard.
"People are lead foot in this town," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said. "They're buying muscle cars like crazy and they're driving like idiots. And that's the bottom line."
As city leaders work to reduce the number of deadly crashes, Castillo-Rivera is trying to cope with the loss of his brother.
"He was strong," Castillo-Rivera said. "He always told me he loved me."
