Man to Stand Trial for 2014 Murder of Two Philadelphia Women

A judge has ordered a man to stand trial after another man testified they killed two Philadelphia women during a 2014 robbery.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Ronald Dorsey was ordered on Wednesday to stand trial for murder in the deaths of Dollie ``Grandmom'' Evans and Ruby Thomas.

James Mears pleaded guilty to murder charges under a deal that carries a 40-to-80-year prison sentence. He testified that he helped Dorsey rob Evans in August 2014.

He says he also strangled Thomas when she refused to come downstairs and heard a gunshot ring out as he walked back.

Mears says he saw Evans slumped over a couch and saw Dorsey then shoot Thomas.

Defense attorney Gregory Pagano says he won't challenge the charges at the preliminary hearing level.
