Dominic McRae was on his way home from a physical therapy session when he was shot -- at point blank range -- and killed on Monday morning.
The 28-year-old was driving through his West Philadelphia neighborhood when a man in a striped red and white shirt fired at least eight bullets into McRae's vehicle near the corner of Catharine and 52nd Street causing him to crash into parked cars.
But the shooting also caused accidents among other travelers trying to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
The shooter, described as a man in his 20s, fled from the scene on foot with a second man, also in his 20s.
McRae was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead a little after 10 a.m.
Police have no motive and are actively searching for both men.
