A SEPTA bus struck a couple crossing in a crosswalk at an intersection in a Philadelphia neighborhood on Friday evening, according to a spokesperson with the transit agency.
The crash happened at the intersection of Front Street and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia just before 7 p.m., officials said.
The couple was crossing the street when a Route 64 bus, driven by a 50-year-old male, was making a turn and slammed right into them as they were in the crosswalk, police told NBC10.

A Philadelphia Police Sgt. was able to remove the man from under the bus with the help of the man's wife and performed CPR on the man, police said.
The man, identified by police as a Michael Spooner, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics and his wife, 29, was taken to a nearby hospital, officials explained. She is listed in stable condition.
Surveillance video from the scene shows the bus traveling northbound on Front Street before turning left onto Washington Avenue.

The SEPTA bus driver stayed at the scene after the crash, police said.
Both directions of Washington Avenue were shut down on Friday as police investigated.
A winter hat and earmuffs from the victim were still on the ground on Friday night as crime scene tape blocked off the area.
