A man was found dead after an overnight house fire on Chew Avenue in Philadelphia’s Ogontz neighborhood.
An investigation is underway after officials said a 72-year-old man was found dead after an overnight house fire in Philadelphia's Ogontz neighborhood.
According to Fire Board officials, the blaze was reported on the 1600 block of West Chew Ave. around 11:46 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke coming from the residence and began working to extinguish the fire.
Officials said first responders located an unresponsive man in a rear bedroom of the home. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 12:08 a.m.
At this time, investigators do not believe the fire is suspicious. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
