Camden Man Charged in Death of Girlfriend's 4-year-old Daughter

A woman was charged in the death of her 4-year-old daughter in Camden. Police say the investigation is not over however. NBC10’s Brandon Hudson spoke to family members who are mourning the girl but also showing support for her mother.

Prosecutors say they have charged a 20-year-old man with murder for the death of his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter.

In a statement Thursday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office says Najuquan Ross beat Natalise Gunter June 15 after she refused to eat dinner. Prosecutors say the child's mother, 20-year-old Lucy Gunter, returned home from work to find the child with scratches to her face and a tooth missing.

Gunter waited three days to call 911. On June 18, Natalise was rushed to the hospital unresponsive, and she died later that day.

Ross was charged with first degree murder and was held at the Camden County Correctional Facility. He was scheduled to go before a judge on Tuesday to decide if bail will be set.

Lucy Gunter has been charged with endangering the welfare of her child. She has since been released from custody with an order to have no contact with her other two children.
