Large clouds of smoke in Evesham Township as wildfire spreads

A brush fire burning in Evesham Township was seen by SkyForce10 as it flew over it. There are homes nearby to the fire that is nearing approximately 41 acres.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is battling a wildfire in Evesham Township, Burlington County Wednesday afternoon.

The wildfire as of 7 p.m. has spread to 40 acres and was 50% contained.

The fire is burning in the area of Sycamore Avenue. Residents in the southern portion of the township will smell smoke until a soaking rain occurs, officials said.

The number of structures threated dropped from 15 to five structures, but no evacuations have happened.

There are also no road closures.

Next update from officials expected at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
