Jurors in central Pennsylvania resume deliberations Monday in the trial of a man prosecutors accuse of having gunned down a woman described as an innocent bystander in the belief that he was shooting at his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend.
The York County panel spent much of Friday considering the case against 26-year-old Christopher Schwenk Jr., who is charged with first- and third-degree murder as well as voluntary manslaughter in the November 2013 death of 49-year-old Monique Nixon.
Defense attorney Sandra Thompson has argued that her client didn't do it — but if he did, he acted in self-defense. She argued that police immediately focused on Schwenk and ignored other possible suspects, including someone whose DNA was on the weapon.
Jurors on Friday asked the judge to repeat the definition of "reasonable doubt."
