Ivanka Trump is calling tax reform the top priority of her father's administration and something necessary to address the new realities of the modern American family.

President Donald Trump's eldest daughter, who serves as a senior adviser, has focused on promoting a plan to expand the child tax credit. She said Monday at a town hall forum in Bucks County, Pennsylvania that the credit could help young people starting families, as well as families trying to balance key needs with their budget.

The hourlong event took place at the James Kinney Senior Center in the Richboro section of Northampton Township. Along with Trump, U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza served on the panel while former New York congresswoman Nan Hayworth moderated.

Trump told her audience of families and residents from the Bucks County area that the Trump administration's priority in tax reform is helping middle-income Americans. She added that tax reform will also keep America competitive as businesses consider where to start or grow.

Protesters gathered across the street from the center ahead of Trump's remarks.

The town hall came as President Donald Trump continues to urge House Republicans to move swiftly on passing a budget bill to clear the way for what he described as a historic push for tax cuts.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence both joined the House GOP conference call Sunday in which Trump called on members to adopt the budget passed by the Senate this week, so that they can move on to passing his tax reform plan.

Trump told the members they were on the verge of doing something historic, according to one Republican official on the call, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss publicly what was intended as a private update for members.

President Trump also visited Harrisburg, Pennsylvania back on Oct. 11 and pitched his tax plan as a boost for truckers.
