High School Teacher Indicted in Student Sex Case

A former New Jersey high school teacher has been indicted on a charge of allegedly having a sexual relationship with a male student and improper relations with two others.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announced the indictment of Nicole McDonough on Friday.

The 32-year-old McDonough, who prosecutors say also goes by Nicole Howell, is charged with three counts of official misconduct.

McDonough was arrested in late December following an investigation by the county prosecutor's office and Mendham police. Investigators allege McDonough had a physical sexual relationship with one 18-year-old student and improper contacts and impermissible fraternization with two others who were also 18.

Timothy Smith, McDonough's attorney, said Friday he would seek to have the indictment dismissed and called it a "rogue prosecution'' that incorrectly applies official misconduct laws.
