Have You Seen This Car? It's Being Sought After Millville Youth Football Coach Shot, Killed

Family, friends and a South Jersey community gathered Friday night to mourn the loss of youth football coach Joe Jones.

After a youth football league coach was shot and killed at a southern New Jersey school, police have released a picture of a car they said fled the scene.

Police released a surveillance photo of the maroon-colored sedan. Anyone with information about it is asked to call the CCPO Major Crimes Unit at 609-381-2046.

Joseph Jones, 37, was shot and killed around 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot at Lakeside Middle School in Millville. Many children were in the area when he was shot, Cumberland County prosecutors said.

Authorities say at least one shooter was in the car that fled from the school moments later. Someone in the car then fired at some police officers a short time later, but no one was hit and the officers did not return fire.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
