Gov. Chris Christie plans to make a quick, one-day appearance at the Republican Governors' Association meetings in Las Vegas.
New Jersey's governor, who is vice chairman of the GOP governors' group, plans to be in Vegas on Thursday to preside over meetings and personally thank fellow governors who sent utility crews or provided other aid after Hurricane Sandy.
Christie says he's also planning to meet with other governors who have been through hurricanes, including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.
The first-term Republican says he hopes to get advice on the cleanup and rebuilding efforts.
Christie planned to fly west on Wednesday night and return to New Jersey late Thursday. The RGA session lasts three days beginning Thursday.
