New Jersey casino regulators took action against the general manager of Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget.
New Jersey casino regulators have fined the Golden Nugget $30,000 and suspended its general manager for three days for wrongly firing the casino's surveillance director.
The penalties were imposed under a settlement reached Sept. 22 between the state and the casino, and made public Thursday.
The Golden Nugget says general manager Tom Pohlman has already served the suspension.
It disagrees with the finding by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, but says it agreed to the penalty to avoid costly legal action.
The state says Pohlman wrongly fired the surveillance director in April and essentially directed the department himself.
Neither the casino nor the state would say why the former surveillance director was fired.
