Heart Disease Claims Philly Firefighter Gabe Lee While on Duty: Officials

Officials say a Philadelphia firefighter who died after being found unresponsive in the basement of his firehouse while on duty in July succumbed to heart disease.

The Medical Examiner's Office confirmed 42-year-old Gabriel Lee's cause of death on Thursday.

The 17-year department veteran died July 23. Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel says Lee had been responding to calls earlier in his shift. A spokesman for the firefighters union says firefighters tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.
