A former Philadelphia Police narcotics officer has admitted to concocting a scheme to rob an alleged drug dealer.
Jeffrey Walker pled guilty to robbery charges and weapons offenses before a federal judge on Monday morning, the U.S. Attorney's Office tells NBC10.com.
A 14-year veteran of the department's narcotics unit, Walker was nabbed in a FBI sting in May 2013.
During that sting, authorities say the officer, while in uniform, planted drugs in the alleged drug dealer's car while he was inside a Philadelphia bar. Walker then pulled over the man, took his house keys, went to his home and stole $15,000. When agents stopped him, they found the cash and keys.
Walker's arrest prompted a Common Pleas judge to throw out 53 drug convictions from cases the officer was connected.
Last fall, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said seven narcotics investigators, including Walker, had been pulled from the street as the result of evidence found in the corruption probe. Walker is the only one who has been charged from that group.
Walker faces up to 10 years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 21.
