Drexel University's $16 Million Expansion Project

Philadelphia's Drexel University is poised to begin work on a $16 million expansion.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Drexel University plans to begin expanding its nearly 60-year-old Korman Center classroom building on Tuesday.

Plans call for new green space around the building as well as 9,000 square feet of lounges and other common space inside.

Drexel says the public space next to the building will be renamed the Korman Quadrangle. Large trees and paths will be installed on a bigger lawn.

Construction is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2017.

The university says the project is funded partly by an $8 million donation from the Hyman Korman Family Foundation
