Convicted Thief Scales Fence, Escapes Delaware Facility

Officials with Delaware's Department of Corrections are looking for an inmate who scaled a fence and escaped from a Wilmington community corrections center.

Security footage from the Plummer Community Corrections Center along Todds Lane, shows 22-year-old Percel Roberts of Newark climbing the fence Sunday, said the state department of corrections.

Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities where the Department of Correction oversees offenders who are transitioning back into the community. Offenders are allowed to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions, said officials.

Roberts -- who stands 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs around 135 pounds and has a beard -- was serving time for theft greater than $1,500.
