A teen girl who was struck and killed by a driver in New Castle County, Delaware has been identified. Police say the driver fled the scene after striking 15-year-old Sa’riyah Patterson. NBC10’s Tim Furlong has the story.
Loved ones are mourning a teen girl who police say was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday.
According to police, the incident happened at about 5:07 a.m. when a girl -- identified by family members as 15-year-old Sa'riyah Patterson -- was hit by a car as she crossed the roadway at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Lower Oak Street in Wilmington.
The driver fled the scene of the crash, officials said.
Patterson was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

At about 2:15 p.m., police officials provided an update to note that officers had located both the driver and the vehicle that was believed to be involved in this incident in Bear, Delaware.
Police have not released the driver's identity or information on any potential charges.
Police officials said the incident is still being investigated.
