At least one person died as fire tore through a Gloucester Township, New Jersey, home late Wednesday night.
A person died as an apartment caught fire along a busy South Jersey road late Wednesday night.
The fire broke out in the mix-use building off the 400 block of Black Horse Pike in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township, just after 8 p.m. on April 9, 2025, Gloucester Township Police said.
When firefighters arrived, they found "heavy fire" on the third floor of the building, the local firefighters' union Camden County IAFF Local 3249 posted to its Facebook page. Police later confirmed the fire appeared to originate on the top floor.

Investigators didn't name the person found dead.
As SkyForce10 hovered overhead hours after the blaze, firetrucks could be seen blocking the road as people with flashlights appeared to be inside damaged top floor of the building.
"Two other families including six residents are displaced at this time and receiving assistance from family in the area," police said.
No word yet on what caused the fire, however, police said it didn't appear to be suspicious.
Investigators hoped this fire would serve as a reminder for people to have working smoke alarms in their homes.
