Former Fox29 anchor Dawn Stensland is dropping hints that she may be the next congressional candidate for Delaware County, in a race where she'd end up challenging Pat Meehan -- the man who signed off on a federal investigation that ended her husband's local TV career.
Two political sites report that Stensland is considering a GOP run for Congress in the 7th District. Contacted by pa2010.com, Stensland did not deny the notion.
NBCPhiladelphia flat out asked Stensland about her political aspirations, but she offered "no comment." However, she did leave interesting comments on the Internet.
“The only thing I can tell you is I was married in Delaware County, half my family is in Delaware County, I love Delaware County,” she told pa2010.com. “That’s all I can say.”
According to Pawatercooler.com, something called “Friendly Fire” first reported on Stensland’s serious consideration of running for United States Congress. If the newly jobless anchorwoman does start a campaign, she’d be giving Meehan a run for his money in the primary race.
The scandal involving her husband, former CBS3 anchor-turned-felon Larry Mendte, brought much sympathy from the public to the wife and mother, which could turn into votes.
Mendte had an improper romantic relationship with his co-anchor Alycia Lane, and then was charged and convicted of cyber-spying on Lane after the relationship went sour.
