Child Found Dead Inside Minivan Near PATCO Station, Lindenwold Police Chief Says

A man on the scene wept on the ground as first responders tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the girl

A minivan with a small child inside is now a crime scene in Camden County, New Jersey. Investigators remain at the scene.

A 22-month-old girl was found dead in a minivan near a PATCO train station Friday afternoon in Camden County, prosecutors said.

The unidentified child was found inside a vehicle parked at a lot near the PATCO stop on Berlin Road around 3:38 p.m., the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.

Rescuers tried in vain to resuscitate the girl. Video from NBC10's SkyForce10 showed a white tarp covering an open door to a minivan parked at a lot along Berlin Road as a man wept on the ground.

"I felt his pain. He was sobbing on the ground and the people around him were consoling him," said Miguel Martinez, who watched as police responded to the parking lot.

Officials have not said how long the child was inside the vehicle. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said no charges had been filed as of Saturday evening.
