A teenage boy's own mother turned him in for an attack on woman that was captured by security cameras inside a Philadelphia store, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation.
The arrest came overnight after Philadelphia Police released video of the attack inside Judy Wigs on the 1900 block of North 54th Street in the Wynnefield section of the city.
Police said the teen entered the store around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. He was no stranger to employees at the store.
The woman told police she recognized the teen from a previous incident back on April 29 in which he allegedly stole $70 from the register.
Police say the woman confronted the suspect and asked him to leave. The suspect allegedly replied by saying, “give me the money.”

When the woman tried to call police, the teen allegedly pushed her into a glass case and punched and kicked her repeatedly before fleeing the store.
The woman suffered a laceration on her left hand and bruising and swelling to her head and face.
Relatives of the 14-year-old saw him in video released Tuesday night. They then alerted the child's mother who turned the boy over to police, according to sources.
The child wasn't identified since he is a minor. Sources said he could be taken to the city's youth detention center.
