A car slammed into a North Philadelphia store and burst into flames early Tuesday.
A car burst into flames as it slammed into a North Philadelphia Family Dollar store early Tuesday. Philadelphia police said the driver -- who was injured -- ran a red light and crashed into a truck before the fiery wreck.
The crash took place around 2:50 a.m. at West Cambria and North 22nd streets, Philadelphia police said.

A Mercedes-Benz sedan wound up on the sidewalk and appeared to be partially charred. You could smell smoke and see what appeared to be smoke damage on the Family Dollar sign.
The metal gates to the store were damaged, some having crumbled to the ground. A utility pole was toppled onto the sidewalk.
Later in the day, police investigators provided an update to note that the incident happened after the 24-year-old Mercedes driver, traveling westbound on Cambria, ran a red light at the intersection and struck a Dodge truck going northbound on 22nd Street.

The Mercedes-Benz the came to a stop after crashing into the Family Dollar, police said. Medics took the Mercedes driver to the hospital where he was being treated in stable condition.
The truck driver was not injured, officials said.
Circumstances around the crash remained under investigation.
