Firefighters pronounced the man -- who wasn't identified -- dead on the scene a short time later.

A neighboring fence appeared to be fire damaged and investigators had a K-9 sniffing for clues at the scene.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office as the investigation continued, police said.
