An arrest has been made after a man was stabbed to death inside a hotel in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Mount Laurel Police were called to the Rodeway Inn along Route 73 in Mount Laurel on Thursday for a report of two men fighting. When they arrived they found the body of 36-year-old Michael Jefferies outside a second-floor room near a stairwell. An autopsy determined he died from multiple stab wounds.

Investigators later determined a man, identified as 29-year-old Taylor Perkins of Riverton, New Jersey, stabbed Jefferies and then fled on foot to a nearby BMW dealership where he drove off in an SUV. Police said Perkins then abandoned the SUV in Evesham, New Jersey, and then stole a truck belonging to an Xfinity worker who was up on a ladder.

Perkins was later arrested Thursday at a home in Camden, New Jersey. He is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was transported to the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly, New Jersey, pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.

While Perkins is in custody, investigators are still working to determine a motive.
