Berks County Plant Explosion Kills 1 Employee, Injures 2 Others

The worker who died in an explosion at a Berks County titanium plant has been identified as 27-year-old Jacob Lopez of Ephrata Township.

An explosion at a Berks County Titanium plant killed one employee and injured two others late Friday.

Multiple people called 911 when the deadly explosion happened at the Timet Plant at 900 Hemlock Rd. in Morgantown around 11 p.m.

When fire crews arrived, they found a worker trapped under a piece of equipment in the plant.

eputy Coroner Christopher Chesonis pronounced 27-year-old Jacob Lopez of Ephrata dead shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Reading Eagle.

Two other employees were injured in the explosion and rushed to Reading Hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
