Officers Nab Juvenile Officer Selling Heroin Near New Jersey School: Police

Berkeley Township police say Erica Kotelnicki was about to sell heroin near Bayville Elementary School before police arrested her. They also found cocaine, scales and cash at her Bayville home.

Authorities arrested an Ocean County juvenile justice officer on charges that she sold heroin and cocaine near a school.

Berkeley Township police said 35-year-old Erica Kotelnicki was apprehended Tuesday in the parking lot of a Walgreens pharmacy along Route 9, which was near the Bayville Elementary School. Police say she had heroin in her possession. More heroin, cocaine, scales and cash were found at her home in the Bayville section.

Police Chief Karin DiMichele said in a statement that officials don't believe Kotelnicki was selling drugs while working at the juvenile detention center in Toms River. However, the investigation is ongoing.

Kotelnicki was held in the Ocean County jail on $125,000 bail. It's not known if she has hired a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
