At Least 3 Hurt in Philadelphia House Fire

At least one woman was hurt when a fire broke out at a house in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood Sunday, Dec. 11, 2021.

At least three people were injured Sunday when an early morning fire broke out at a home in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood.

Firefighters responded to the 1000 block of East Hortter Street around 1:30 a.m. and found flames coming from the basement of a two-story twin home, authorities said.

Medics provided care to at least three people, two of whom were taken to the hospital. An injured woman could be seen on a stretcher and wearing what appeared to be an oxygen mask, though she was able to move and speak to first responders.

In all, authorities said the blaze took a little under an hour to be placed under control, with around 70 firefighters, medics, chiefs and support personnel responding.

Fire officials told NBC10 around nine people were displaced.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
