In what police believe is a case of road rage, a 63-year-old man was shot in the arm. Pennsylvania State Police are on the lookout for an older maroon car.
A 63-year-old man on his way home from work was shot during a road rage incident along a busy Montgomery County highway. The gunman drove off.
The shooting occurred Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. on Route 309 northbound near mile-marker 3.9 in Whitemarsh Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The pickup driver told state police he switched from the left to right lanes so he could exit Route 309 onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike when a maroon sedan passed him on the right shoulder. Suddenly, he heard a gunshot and his passenger side window shattered, police said. He then felt a burning sensation in his arm.
The pickup truck driver, who hails from Mont Clare, pulled over at the nearby Fort Washington Interchange and called for help.
The driver was treated for a non-life-threatening graze wound to his arm and released from the hospital.
The shooter fled the scene in the sedan, an older model box-like sedan with New Jersey plates. It's possible two people were in the sedan at the time.
State police are investigating the incident as a road rage shooting and attempted homicide.
