The city of Philadelphia has agreed to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former employee at the Sheriff's Office for $127,500.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports a lawyer for Sheriff Jewell Williams says the 61-year-old had no part in the settlement, and it "does not mean the allegations are true."
Marlaina Williams, of no relation to the sheriff, filed the lawsuit claiming Jewell Williams sexually harassed her from 2013 to 2015.
Marlaina Williams says in her lawsuit the harassment left her "emotionally broken" and led her to quit her job.
A spokesperson for the city Law Department said Wednesday the settlement was in the "best legal interests of the city."
Mayor Jim Kenney says Jewell Williams should resign from office, to which he is seeking reelection.
