The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation has awarded Level-II trauma center accreditation to Lankenau Medical Center.
The designation, which followed a 15-month review process and on-site survey at the Wynnewood, Pa., hospital, becomes effective Sept. 1.
“Bringing the specialized services of a Level II Trauma Center onto the Lankenau campus will enhance the ability of our EMS partners to rapidly transport trauma victims, helping to save the lives of many in the communities we serve,” said Phil Robinson, the hospital’s president.
Lankenau Medical Center will become the second Main Line Health hospital to receive such a designation. Paoli Hospital in Chester County has operated a Level-II trauma center since 2010.
