Interstate 495 in Delaware reopened Saturday afternoon after one person died in a crash, authorities said.
A tractor trailer struck a broken-down car just after 3 a.m. on the northbound side of the interstate just south of Philadelphia Pike in Claymont, state police said.
The tractor trailer rolled onto its side and struck a guard rail. One person was killed.
The truck was carrying molten sulfur, which did not spill and does not pose a danger to the public, the Claymont Fire Company said. However, about 100 gallons of diesel fuel did spill.
The cleanup and repairs had the road closed for much of the day. I-495 southbound reopened after 1 p.m. The northbound side didn't reopen until close to 3 p.m.
