Charges have been filed in a t-bone crash at a Chester County intersection Wednesday morning that left a mother of three, and recent newlywed, dead.
Tyree Mansell, 22, of Coatesville, is charged with homicide by motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and other related offenses.
Police say Mansell was driving a 2013 Kia Optima around 5:10 a.m. at North 8th Avenue and Lincoln Highway (Business U.S. Route 30) when he drove through a red light and slammed into a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Monica Fiorentino, 45. The impact caused a loud boom, heard by witnesses.
Fiorentino was heading to work at the time, police said.
Fiorentino's damaged car came to rest against the sign for a nearby Walgreens store. Rescuers pulled her from the car and performed CPR in an attempt to save her life, witnesses said.
She was taken to Brandywine Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Mansell allegedly fled the scene of the crash on foot but was apprehended a short time later while hiding in the backyard of a home on the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway.
Those that knew Fiorentino called her a kind-hearted and well-mannered woman. Fiorentino recently got married and is known as a cook for the Coatesville community and homeless people in the area, family friends said.

Police spent hours examining the crash scene. The roadway reopened later in the morning. Both cars appeared to have front-end damage and debris was left scattered at the intersection.
Mansell remained jailed Thursday. Court records don't list an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
