Two thieves who stole a lion statue in West Chester had a change of heart Sunday night.
On Friday, the West Chester Borough Police Department posted a surveillance video of the two thieves who broke into a fenced-in yard in West Chester on Wednesday.
But the intruders were not after money or jewelry, they wanted to steal a statue of a lion on the owner’s porch.
It took the thieves two tries before they successfully lugged the statue down the street together.
“If you are watching and saying 'Wow that’s us,' no you are not movie stars, and should probably stop by and visit us......,” a police spokesperson wrote.
Two days after police posted their video, the supposed same thieves decided to return the lion statue.

They also left a bouquet of flowers and a card on the owner’s porch.
“We thank everyone who shared the video and to the two fellas, smart move to return the property,” the police said in a post.
The police reported that the owner was grateful the lion statue was returned.
