Girl, 9, shot at North Philadelphia McDonald's parking lot, police say

Police say a 9-year-old girl was shot in the leg as she was walking into a McDonald’s at Broad and Allegheny streets. The girl’s family says she is expected to be okay. Police say they do not know who shot the girl and they have not found any shell casings in the area.

 A little girl is in the hospital after she was shot while walking into in a North Philadelphia fast-food restaurant Wednesday evening.

The shooting took place around 6:15 p.m. Thursday at North Broad Street and West Allegheny Avenue, Philadelphia police said.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said the little girl was walking through the McDonald's parking lot with her family when she was shot.

Her parents realized she was bleeding from her leg when they walked into the fast-food place, police said.

She was transported to the hospital and placed in stable condition, according to police.

Police said it is unclear if the girl was hit by was a stray bullet or what happened during the incident. Small said there was no evidence of a shooting, such as shell casings or fragments at the scene.
