A 7-year-old North Philadelphia student has been suspended after police say he brought a loaded gun to school.
It happened Monday morning at the John F. Reynolds Elementary School in North Philadelphia.
Investigators say the boy was in the cafeteria and showing off the gun to other students. Another student told a school officer who found the weapon in the boy’s backpack around 8:15 a.m. Police say the gun was a loaded .357-caliber handgun.
The boy was taken to the office where the gun was recovered and secured. He has been suspended pending an investigation, according to the School District.
A School District spokesman tells NBC10 John F. Reynolds doesn’t have any metal detectors.
