Quadruple shooting in North Philadelphia leaves boys, men hurt

Four people — including two teens — were injured in a late Monday night shooting in North Philadelphia.

Four people -- including two teenaged boys -- were shot in North Philadelphia late Monday night.

The shooting took place along West Westmoreland Street, near North Philip Street, around 10:40 p.m. Philadelphia police said. Two men dressed in black on a moped opened fire.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in his ankle, a 15-year-old boy was shot in his leg, a 38-year-old man was shot in his leg and a 33-year-old man was shot in the leg, police said.

The four shooting victims were driven to the hospital, police said. All four shooting victims were hospitalized in stable condition.

At least 16 evidence markers could be seen on the street and sidewalk. A bike could also be seen on its side in the middle of the street.

Police didn't immediately reveal the circumstances around the shooting.

They did, however say that they were holding the car in which the shooting victims were driven to the hospital in as evidence.

The most recent data released by the City Controller's Office reveals that children have made up about 12% of the 438 shootings in Philadelphia so far this year.
