Law enforcement officials are investigating after a toddler drowned in a pool on Sunday.
According to police, at about 12:17 p.m., first responders arrived at a property along the 600 block of Lawler Place in the city's Somerton neighborhood, where a three-year-old girl had fallen into a pool.
The toddler was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced just before 1 p.m.
The family told NBC10's Leah Uko off camera that they are not sure how the little girl fell into the pool that was covered with a tarp.

Uko also spoke with a neighbor on the street who said the family's pool is typically dirty, covered with a tarp that is under the water that looks black.
According to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, drowning is the leading cause of injury-related deaths among children 1-4 years old. It only takes seconds for a child to drown, and silently, when they are unsupervised near water.
Officials said the incident is currently under investigation.
