2 Teens Shot After High School Football Game

Police put teens in cruiser and rushed them to the hospital before ambulance arrived

Two teenagers were shot shortly after a high school football game ended in Philadelphia.

The shooting took place shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday along the 4200 block of N. 15th Street in the Hunting Park section of the city, according to Philadelphia Police.

Police say a 16-year-old boy was shot in the left buttock, right thigh and left calf and a 17-year-old boy was hit in the right calf. Both teens were rushed to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

The teens were shot near the No.1 Kitchen Chinese and American Food Restaurant. One victim was able to run to a nearby McDonald's at North Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue for help.

Witness Kevin Anthony says as soon as police arrived on the scene, they put one teen in their cruiser and sped toward the hospital.

"It was six shots and they had to scoop him up off the ground," he said. "They rushed him to the hospital. They didn't even wait for the ambulance. They rushed him, so I hope he's alright."

Witnesses also say both teens were wearing football uniforms for nearby Simon Gratz High School. However, police say they can only confirm one teen was wearing what appeared to be Gratz uniforms.

Gratz had just won its Friday night football matchup against Dobbins High School with a score of 31-0. Hundreds of kids were in attendance at the game and were leaving when the shooting occurred.

The school's field, at 16th Street and Hunting Park Avenue, is a block from the shooting scene.

At least six bullet casings could be seen on the ground.

Police say there is no description of the shooter and they are investigating the incident.
