Teen critically injured after being shot eight times in Philly's Kensington neighborhood

Police say they are holding a man prisoner after a shooting occurred on the 1800 block of E. Schiller Street

An 18-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot eight times in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood on Monday night.

Police said officers responded to a call at about 4:26 p.m. to find the teen suffering from eight gunshot wounds throughout his body along the 1800 block of E. Schiller Street in the Kensington section of Philly.

The victim was transported to the hospital by police where he was placed in critical condition, according to the police.

Police also said that a man is being "held as a prisoner" in this case as of about 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police did not identify the victim or clarify if the man being held prisoner is the victim or the suspect in the shooting.
